"cimaise": examples and translations in context
The top mouldings of the capitals bear an inscription in kufic characters that reads 'Karim your servant', which is understood to refer to ‘Abd al-Karim, a well-known foreman of ‘Abd al-Rahman II.
On the west façade, whose proportions are not harmonious, there is a window with a rectangular decorative surround (alfiz), chimneys, vestiges of floral sgraffito work, which perhaps decorated the cymas (cornices) of the four façades, and a tower, which was the first structure of the complex and probably dates back to the early 15th century.
