Cartesian coordinates
pl n a system of representing points in space in terms of their distance from a given origin measured along a set of mutually perpendicular axes. Written (x,y,z) with reference to three axes
chromaticity coordinates
pl n  (Physics) three numbers used to specify a colour, each of which is equal to one of the three tristimulus values divided by their sum., (Symbols)  x, y, z
cylindrical coordinates
pl n three coordinates defining the location of a point in three-dimensional space in terms of its polar coordinates (r, <Gtheta>) in one plane, usually the (x, y) plane, and its perpendicular distance, z, measured from this plane
polar coordinates
pl n a pair of coordinates for locating a point in a plane by means of the length of a radius vector, r, which pivots about the origin to establish the angle, <Gtheta>, that the position of the point makes with a fixed line. Usually written (r, <Gtheta>)

rectangular coordinates
pl n the Cartesian coordinates in a system of mutually perpendicular axes
spherical coordinates
pl n three coordinates that define the location of a point in three-dimensional space in terms of its radius vector, r, the angle, <Gtheta>, which this vector makes with one axis, and the angle, <Gphi>, which the plane of this vector makes with a mutually perpendicular axis. Usually written (r, <Gtheta>, <Gphi>)
